Why recommend Aeroventure

Students launch actual ventures, not case studies.

Students launch actual ventures

Not case studies or classroom simulations — products, services, and businesses with paying customers and measurable market feedback.

Strong college application material

Launching a business, receiving a grant, and working with a professional mentor stands out in any application.

Completely free for students

No fees, no equity taken. The program is funded by donors and sponsors so students can participate regardless of background.

Student eligibility

Who is a good fit.

  • Currently enrolled in grades 9–12 at a Long Island high school
  • Available to commit approximately 3–5 hours per week
  • Has a genuine interest in entrepreneurship or building a project
  • No minimum GPA or prior business experience required
  • Parent or guardian consent is required as part of the application

Who typically thrives

Look for these students.

The student who always has a side project

Selling things online, offering services to neighbors, making content — they're already doing it.

The student who asks 'what if'

Curious, questioning, always thinking about how things could work differently.

The student who needs a challenge

Academically disengaged, not because they lack ability, but because they haven't found something that pulls them in.

The student who talks about starting a business

They mention it casually. They mean it more seriously than they let on.

Advisor FAQ

Questions from counselors and advisors.

Is there any cost to schools or districts?

No. Participating as a referring school or host is completely free. There are no fees or formal agreements required.

How is Aeroventure different from a school club or class?

Aeroventure operates independently of schools. Students apply directly and participate outside of school hours. We don't replace any school programming — we complement it.

What is the time commitment for students?

Most students invest 3–5 hours per week in program activities. Mentor sessions happen every two weeks (~1 hour each), with the rest of the time spent working on their venture independently.

Can multiple students from the same school apply?

Yes. There's no per-school cap. Students from the same school can apply individually or as a team.

How does the referral process work?

Submit a student referral through our contact form or let us know via email. We'll reach out to the student directly with application information.

Does Aeroventure share student data with schools?

No. Student data is confidential. We only communicate program participation information with parents and guardians, not schools, unless specifically requested.
